Share Your Faith More

My challenge for all of us, myself included, is to share our faith more.  Sharing your faith is so intimidating for many.  Most of us want to share our faith, but knowing what to say and how to say it stops many in their tracks.  So how do you share your faith without making people run and hide from you?  I’m going to make it as easy as I can.  Here is my personal Top 2 Ways To Share Your Faith.  Go ahead, give them a try…

# 2 – Don’t compromise on your beliefs.  Situations happen every day where compromise is not only possible, but many times is expected.  Show people that your Christianity means living a life of integrity.  In our world today, we are told that whatever is politically correct is the way that it is.  Media tells us that values and morals are no longer important.  But I challenge you, don’t compromise on what the word of God teaches.

And # 1 – Be real.  People can spot a phony from a mile away.  The absolute worst thing you can do is say one thing and do another.  If you aren’t committed to applying Christian principles in your own life, you will not only be ineffective, but you will actually do more harm than good.  People aren’t as interested in what you say, as they are in seeing how it’s working in YOUR life.  So simply live what you say you believe.   Saying you’re a Christian is one thing, but living it in tangible ways every day is something else.  The Bible tells us that “they’ll know them by their fruit.”

The best way to share your faith is be an example.  People will want to know how you can be peaceful in the storm, why your kids are doing so well, why your marriage is so great, how you know for sure about your purpose in life, and they will want to know why you live the way you do.  And when they ask, you’ll have all kinds of great stuff to share.

So go ahead and give it a try.  Attempt to share your faith more.  Don’t be willing to compromise on your beliefs, and stop talking about your faith, and start living it out.  And then…, when the opportunity arises, and I am sure it will, you just have to open your eyes to it, you will have a chance to tell others about the faith that you have.

To The Class Of 2013

With many of you preparing to graduate, and some of you already graduating from college, I wanted to share with you some powerful words as you pursue the next leg of your journey through this thing we call life. Since many times I struggle to come up with the right words, allow me to draw from the words of other influential individuals…

“It is clear the future holds great opportunities. It also holds pitfalls. The trick will be to avoid the pitfalls, seize the opportunities, and get back home by six o’clock.”  Woody Allen

“You are educated. Your certification is in your degree. You may think of it as the ticket to the good life. Let me ask you to think of an alternative. Think of it as your ticket to change the world.”  Tom Brokaw

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”  Nelson Mandela

“The horizon leans forward, offering you space to place new steps of change.”  Maya Angelou

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”  EE Cummings

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.”  Confucius

And no good minister is going to give you encouraging words as you graduate and not include God’s word. So here are some Biblical words of advice as you embark on the future…

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 19:21 – Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Joshua 1:9 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Congrats, you did it!

In Christ,
